Proposed Student Government Constitution

This proposed constitution changes the name of the Associated Student Government to Student Government and establishes Student Government as the primary forum for student opinion to the Texas State University administration. It also allows the Student Government to support student centered programs and services. This constitution provides for additional officers, establishes a centralized executive cabinet, expands the role of the Senate and House, and clarifies the powers of the judiciary.

Major Constitutional Change

Major changes to the constitution include: adding more officers, sets two year Senator and Represenative terms establishes a centralized executive cabinet, expands the role of the Senate and House, and clarifies the powers of the judiciary.

American Student Government Association's Consultant Report

The American Student Government Association (ASGA) is a national organization uniting student governments across the country. The Texas State Associated Student Government (ASG) commissioned the ASGA to research ASG, conduct on campus interviews with campus leaders, students and university administrators to get a comprehensive report on how to improve the organization. ASG has adopted some recommendations and made them apart of the proposed constitution.
