Hobbies: You can't beat floating down the river with good friends, binging Netflix, and playing video games

#1 Tip for surviving grad school: Remember to make some time just for you to do the things you like and enjoy. Grad school is very stressful and you will burn yourself out if you are not able to balance out this stress, so go out and enjoy yourself.

#1 Tip for Surviving Grad School: Don’t brag about staying up till 4 am to write that paper that you pushed off until the last minute. Brag about that time where you convinced your professor to give you an extension so that you could get some sleep. Also, teach your cat to cook your meals and write your dissertation for you.

#1 Tip for Surviving Grad School: Make time for “you” time outside your studies. Often, I tend to let myself get wrapped up in problem-solving, and it really derails my health, both mentally and physically, if I let it. Just like in our careers after graduation, there needs to be a balance between work and play. Start those habits now, and they will serve you well in the future.
